and weekends if need be. Being
a small-business owner is a lot
of work, and success will not
necessarily come overnight, so
be prepared for years of hard
work before it begins to pay off. I
would also encourage people to
be flexible. If what you are trying
is not working, don’t be afraid to
try something different.”
She also emphasized that cus-
tomer satisfaction should be a
top priority. “Every person who
purchases from my shop could be
a lifelong customer if they have a
good experience all around,” she
said. “I always strive to make the
customer happy even if it means
going the extra mile.”
Today, Mountain Cat Trees is
going strong, offering new prod-
ucts that continue to deliver high
quality and outstanding design.
When developing new product
ideas, Rebecca looks to her cats
for inspiration, and she tries to put
a new spin on current concepts.
“For example, our vertical scratching post is one of our best-selling
items, but it does take up a certain
amount of floor space. I thought
a similar-style scratching post that
mounts to a wall would be a good
product for people who don’t
have a lot of floor space or who
like a minimalist look.” With this
in mind, Rebecca added the new
wall-mounted vertical scratching
post to the Mountain Cat Trees
product lineup, and it has proven
to be very popular.
What does the future hold for
Mountain Cat Trees? The compa-
ny is actually expanding to offer
other items besides cat furniture,
so Rebecca is introducing a new
name: Mountain Pet Products.
Mountain Cat Trees will remain
as the brand name for the cat
furniture line, but the new name
signifies a wider direction that
will involve partnering with local
manufacturers and offering more
products that are attractive, long
lasting, safe, and fun for pets.
Thanks to those original foster
kittens for inspiring such a suc-
cessful endeavor!
