With a few exceptions, cats aren’t too keen about traveling. I know mine aren’t. A trip to the vet or to visit Mommy at work for a photo shoot usually results in a lot of kitty complaining and anxiety. Of course, those
are the only two places they ever go, so they probably figure there’s
a 50/50 chance of going to the vet, so I don’t blame them for the
anxiety and caterwauling.
We brought our late cat, Owen, to Palm Springs with us once.
Once. He was OK as soon as we were in the condo and seemed to
really enjoy exploring it, but the drive there and back was almost
On the other hand, I know of cats who LOVE traveling — like
those “adventure cats” who go hiking, camping or sailing with their
people. If I suggested any of that with my cats, they’d laugh in my
face — much like our resident feline columnist, Stella.

of places around the country that are perfect for cat lovers either because they place a strong emphasis on kitty
welfare or because they allow travelers to get their cat fix

We always thought the concept of cat cafes was pretty
cool. Unfortunately, there weren’t any in the U.S. Well,
that certainly has changed!
