#CatPeopleProblem No. 302 – Clingy Cats
I hardly ever go to the bathroom
by myself. There’s always a cat in
there, and they want me to turn on
the water so they can get a drink
from the sink.
— Debbie Jimerson Parker
All three follow me from room to
room. The bathroom is the best
playground. Peek-a-boo with the
shower curtain, in and out of the
tub, and playing in the sink when I
wash my hands. — Pat Whitener
Muffin watches my every move
and follows me when I go from
room to room. As soon as I sit
back in my recliner, he’s on my lap
and washing himself before he
stretches across my legs and falls
asleep! — Pamela Henderson
I have several cats, and I swear they
draw cards every morning to see
who gets to be the “Velcro” kitty
of the day! – Donna L. Handley
I have three that must follow me
to any room, and one even cries in
the window if I go outside.
— Stephani Ann McDon
I should change my cat’s name to
Shadow the way he follows me!
— Alexandria Brenda
To me it’s kitty love, not clinging.
— Ginny Walker

Kira is one of those cats who
digs furiously, sometimes jumping
from one litter box to the next
(there’s three of them side by side)
until she finds the “right one.”
Often, after the business is done,
she jumps off with a grossed-out hurry
without even covering her artwork. Fen, who’s a bit younger,
sometimes covers it for her himself. — Juliana Crestani
When Jake goes No. 1, he doesn’t cover it up — I think
it’s a Y chromosome thing — so if Maggie walks by the litter box and smells it, she covers it up. — Lisa Trosper
Sorcha was chosen at a shelter, and they wouldn’t
release her until spayed. So 24 hours after surgery, I got to
take home an angry, frightened tortie Maine Coon with a
very sore belly. Every time she pooped, she came running
to mommy, crying to be petted, soothed, and allowed to
“perch” on my left shoulder until she felt better. Fast for-
ward 16 years … she still runs howling through the house
and needs to perch. — Karen Murray
My Jax uses the litter box for No. 2 and, when finished,
runs around the house like a mad cat for about two minutes, apparently relieved of some extra weight. My other
cat, Miss Kiddy, just does her business and then goes about
her day. — Fred Weisgerber
I have two kitties, and the female goes totally berserk
speeding and doing spins out through the house and literally ninja bounces off the walls just before she goes to poop.
And the male does his mandatory jumping in and out of
different areas of the litter box several times, chirping all
the way, until he makes the grand decision where to go and
then digs a hole to China burying it. — Jane Powers-On
Does your cat have a unique behavior or ritual when taking a poop?
