Atchoum rarely hides but hates the sound of a vacuum cleaner.
He expects his family to get up when he does (5: 30 a.m.). If they need help,
he pounces on doors to make noise and circles around Nathalie’s head in bed, purring at
He loves playing with water faucets, cat- nip toys, cat games on an iPad and, like a
good Canadian, enjoys playing “hockey” with
He loves his feline siblings even if they’re not famous and don’t want to always
play with him.
Atchoum is most bonded with Nathalie and follows her around everywhere
including sprawled on the dining room table to
watch her eat. He loves snuggling, napping, and
playing with her. He’s her assistant editor, lying
by the computer when she responds to his fans.
He likes to sleep in odd places like the bathroom sink.
Nathalie joked, “He weighs 8 pounds, but 1 pound is fur!”
Caring for special-needs cats requires being prepared for the unexpected.
It’s rare for cats to need dental cleaning for the first few years, but Atchoum’s
teeth are unusually porous, and he underwent his first dental scaling around
the time of his first birthday, May 10th, and a complete blood panel. Luckily
Atchoum is in good hands. Nathalie’s co-workers adore Atchoum, and he’ll be
afforded the best veterinary care.
Celebrity cat moms have crushes on other celebrity cats, too. Who does
Nathalie love? “Lil BUB! I love seeing all the love for his cat dad through the
photos; this man is not afraid to show his commitment to his cat.”
Celebrity cats are no strangers to the camera. Some are hams and others
more grumpy. Atchoum veers somewhere in the middle. He loves posing
for Nathalie (yes, he’s a mama’s boy), but he’s not thrilled with studios with
Nathalie said, “Atchoum likes to be the star and demands attention. He
lies on his back in the middle of the table. ‘Look at me!’ For him it’s a game. I
love when I manage to take a picture that will create joy among fans.”
Creating joy is what Atchoum does best and if it were up to him, he
wouldn’t mind a few million fans.
